"Round table on biosourced insulation"
10 Nov 2022
We are spoiled for choice when it comes to insulation. It remains to be determined which insulation material is best suited to the energy requirements and the place to be insulated. Whether natural, mineral or synthetic, insulators have fairly similar thermal performance provided they are properly installed. Nevertheless, due to their lower impact on the environment and health, biosourced insulators are to be preferred. Paper cellulose, hemp, grass, sheep's wool, straw, cork... This round table with representatives from the different sectors will allow you to get to know these materials better.

Materials, an equally economical choice
Despite their advantages, bio-based materials are still often put aside because of their prices. However, the gap with traditional materials tends to be reduced and the long-term calculation rather pleads in favor of the former...

Bioconstruction - Eco-construction
In the field of construction (or heavy renovation) more ecological solutions are also becoming widespread. Organic or geo-ecological construction, insulation from natural materials and interior finishes based on clay, lime, hemp or other natural and sustainable products are as attractive as they are becoming more democratic. In Wallonia, the Otra company is on the rise. His creed? Sustainable construction and renovation using 100% natural and often local raw materials, which have enabled them to carry out certain heritage renovation projects alongside numerous private projects. A great Walloon success story!

Trend: we see cannabis everywhere!
In 2020, you don't have to be a joint addict to find cannabis everywhere in our daily lives. The plant has lost its THC and its sulphurous side to display its many advantages, whether in construction, gastronomy, fashion or cosmetics.

On the building sites of our houses
More and more hemp (another name for cannabis) is demonstrating its effectiveness in construction. Walloon firms like Otra have understood this well: The mixture of lime and hemp, in the form of blocks, sprayed or in wall coating constitutes an ecological alternative in contemporary construction. This blend provides incredible comfort, it regulates humidity in the home, insulates and distributes heat evenly while providing superior acoustic comfort. A 100% eco-responsible material, with an unequaled CO2 balance and under…
